Jennifer was born on 24.07.1969 at Castle Hill section of the Bronx. Her father, David, is a computer technician. Her mother, Guadalupe, taught kindergarten. Jennifer is the middle of three daughters. Her sister, Leslie, is a housewife who sings opera. Her sister, Linda, is a DJ at WKTU in New York, a VH1 VJ, and correspondent for the morning show in New York news, channel 11. Jennifer parents were born in Puerto Rico, but has met only two came to America.Her mother and the parents were Europeans who settled in Puerto Rico. She says the work ethic of the parents who made a difference in their lives. Jennifer has been singing and dancing lessons at 5 years. She attended Catholic school for 12 years, including all the girls at school. She plays tennis and softball in high school and was a gymnast.
After high school she briefly worked in an office. Meanwhile, she continued dance classes at night. At 18, she left home because her mother was frightened by her decision to pursue show business. With the cast of In Living Colors (1990) in 1990, she moved to Los Angeles, but first she hated. Finally, a friend, David Cruz, moved to be with her there and she taught her new environment to accept. Her career has taken her "Living Color" limited and reaches new heights with her role as slain Latino singer Selena (1997).
